BioMar receives clean sheet at audit by the Danish Plant Directorate
The factory in Brande, Denmark, was audited by the Danish Plant Directorate on November 25th. The audit this time focused primarily on paper flow and administrative procedures and less on physical conditions and procedures at the factory.
The main points for the audit were:
- HACCP implementation
- Storage of raw materials and finished feed
- Separation of raw materials with special focus on GMO
- Import procedures
The auditor was satisfied with the information supplied by BioMar and did not report any non-conformities or needs for improvements. BioMar in Brande is receving external auditors from authorities, large retail chains, and other certification bodies with regular intervals – most of these audits are carried out once a year but some more frequent.
As supplement to the external audits BioMar regularly performs internal audits. This self-control actually accounts for up to 70 % of the audits done in the factory. The procedures for these internal audits are described in details in BioMar’s quality system and they are part of the foundation for the ISO certification. Some of these internal audits are carried out by staff from other BioMar factories. This both helps establishing a common quality standard across all BioMar companies and it makes it possible to share best practice between BioMar factories.
