Strengthening fresh water fish farming in the North
BioMar was co-hosting the Nordic conference on fresh water fish farming held on 23rd and 24th September in Billund, Denmark. The purpose with the conference was to strengthen Nordic aquaculture through establishment of a network for the fish farmers.
All the Nordic countries were represented when fish farmers, researchers and public servants gathered to learn more about possibilities and challenges for the production of new species within freshwater fish farming.
The fish farmers’ own experiences with farming pike perch, perch and whitefish, and the related technological and biological challenges were among the many interesting subjects presented to the 46 delegates.
The group visited a number of Danish aquaculture businesses, including the BioMar factory in Brande, where they learned about the special challenges in the development and production of fish feed for an increasing number of species and different types of farming technologies in aquaculture.
