BioMar offers with the starter feeds INICIO and INICIO Plus, the grower feeds EFICO Enviro and EFICO Alpha, the brood stock feed EFICO Genio, and the special feed for farming in recirculation systems, ORBIT, the most complete trout feed programme. The programme covers the whole life cycle of the trout and all possible farming situations and feeding strategies. And on top of these comes ECOLIFE Pearl - a high performance feed certified for the production of organic trout.
Starter feeds INICIO Plus and INICIO
BioMar proposes with INICIO Plus the best fry feed programme for trout. With its carefully developed composition INICIO Plus comes out as winner in feed trials showing excellent results on feed conversion, growth, and low mortality. In this way, it contributes to increased production profitability. As the first trout feed the INICIO Plus now contains a probiotic approved for trout and other salmonids.
Our research has proven that the use of probiotics leads to a reduced number of deformities and reduced mortality in fry. In addition to this, studies show that the use of probiotics in the feed also enhances the general health status of the fish and increases digestibility of the feed.
The INICIO Plus feed range comprises extruded pellets from 0,5 mm – the smallest size on the market – as well as granulates from 0,4 mm labelled INICIO Plus G, which is recommended for particularly small fry.
With the INICIO Plus range, we emphasize the nutritional stability and a high digestibility. Furthermore, we emphasize a physical quality with well calibrated sizes as well as absence of dust. This allows you to obtain a clean and healthy aquatic environment for the fish fry.
INICIO 702, INICIO 917 and INICIO 918 supplement INICIO Plus for larger fry and fingerlings. Pellet sizes range from 1.1 mm to 2 mm. The INICIO Plus, INICIO 917, and 918 include BioFocus as standard.
ORBIT 929
ORBIT is BioMar’s feed concept for recirculation farms. We have with ORBIT taken into consideration the main limiting factors in recirculation aquaculture: nitrogen charge and charge of organic matter. The composition of ORBIT 929 is based on the specific needs of both the fish and the bacteria in the biofilter.
High digestibility of the ingredients, balanced proportion between protein and energy, and a perfectly optimized amino acid profile in the feed contribute to optimal growth of the fish. The performance of ORBIT 929 is at the same high level as traditional high performing feed types like EFICO Enviro 920.
ORBIT provides optimal conditions for the efficiency of the biofilter, as the bacteria living in the biofilter have to handle a considerably lower load of nitrogen and organic matter. Thereby ORBIT can provide the opportunity to use up to 25 % more feed on the same biofilter.
Moreover, the use of ORBIT results in a reduced discharge of nitrogen to the environment compared to ordinary feed types.
EFICO Enviro 920
The EFICO Enviro 920 is an extruded high energy feed recommended for obtaining fast growth and very low conversion rates under optimal farming conditions. The EFICO Enviro 920 has been optimised for use in modern fish farms, including recirculation farms, and it lives up to the highest environmental standards regards to low emission of phosphorous and nitrogen. High digestibility and our selection of raw materials ensures, that a maximum of the nutrients are utilized by the fish rather than lost to the water – this, as an additional benefit gives a more healthy environment for the fish in the ponds.
The EFICO Enviro 920 is formulated with proteins based on hemo-derivatives with very high digestibility and an attractive aminoacid profile.
EFICO Enviro 921
The EFICO Enviro 921 is in many aspects similar to the EFICO Enviro 920, but it distinguishes itself by a more moderat energy level as well as its semi-floating characteristic. The EFICO Enviro 921 has a very high physical quality and is particularly well adapted for recirculation farms and farms with optimal farming conditions.
EFICO Enviro 923
The EFICO Enviro 923 is a high energy feed, which have been developed with a Digestible Protein / Digestible Energy ratio optimized according to the individual life stages of the fish. The EFICO Enviro 923 thereby supports high growth rates all the way from fingerlings to large trout above 4 kg. The high growth rate is further supported by a high palatability, obtained through the selection of raw materials, and which stimulates appetite.
The EFICO Enviro 923 has been optimised to have particularly low emissions of nitrogen and phosphorous. Thereby it becomes well suited for farms experiencing restrictions on discharge.
EFICO Alpha 780
The EFICO Alpha 780 is a medium-high energy feed recommended for intensive fish farming, when farm conditions are fluctuating and difficult to predict and control. The EFICO Alpha 780 has been optimised to give a strong performance with a flexible use of raw materials making it a very competitive feed solution.
EFICO Alpha 790
The EFICO Alpha 790 is an extruded high energy feed recommended for almost all kinds of farming situations. Special attention has been paid to faeces structure making the EFICO Alpha 790 well suited also for modern recirculation farms. High appetite, fast growth, and a high physical quality are some of the other key characteristics of this feed type, which due to the inclusion of highly digestible proteins based on hemo-derivatives offers an economically attractive alternative.
ECOLIFE Pearl for organic fish production
ECOLIFE Pearl is BioMar's feed for production of organic fish. Approved according to European Regulation (EC) no. 834/2007 and 889/2008 and related regulations by Qualité France (FR-BIO 10) and living up to the demands for feed for organic fish production as stated by the Danish Ø-label regulations, ECOLIFE Pearl 867 opens up new markets for fish farmers interested in the growing consumer demand for organic fish products.
EFICO Genio 991 brood stock feed
EFICO Genio 991 is an updated version of BioMar’s recognised brood stock feed EFICO Genio 913. A low energy level combined with a high content of vitamins and minerals contribute to the development of large high quality eggs.
Focus in the development of EFICO Genio 991 has been on achieving a stable and strong breeding performance. The relation between digestible protein and energy has been adjusted according to our research results, just like the fatty acid profile and the content of vitamins has been adjusted according to the specific needs of the fish during vitellogenesis. EFICO Genio 991 contains krill meal, which both provides natural astaxanthin and have an attractive taste, which stimulates fish appetite.
EFICO Genio 991 is a floating feed. This makes it easier to follow the feed consumption. At the same time, the high physical quality of the pellets contributes to a clean and healthy water environment.
We recommend to utilise EFICO Genio 991 from 6 months before the expected time of spawning. Outside this period, it might be desirable to utilise a normal grower feed with a higher energy level to promote growth of the mother fish.
