The President of Costa Rica, Mrs. Laura Chinchilla, opened this week officially the new BioMar fish feed factory in Cañas, Costa Rica.

Mrs. Laura Chinchilla visited the BioMar factory together with a group of Costa Rican ministers and officials, and used the occasion to cut the ribbon together with BioMar CEO Torben Svejgaard. Mrs.Chinchilla noted in her speech both the importance of the USD 15 mio investment for the region and the impressive effectiveness of the construction project, which took less than 12 months to finalize.

The new factory is the most modern fish feed plant in Central America, and with an initial capacity of 50.000 tons it will be able to serve BioMar customers in both Costa Rica and surrounding countries. A second phase of the factory can eventually double the capacity in case market conditions are favourable.
