Who is BioMar?

BioMar is a world leader in high performance diets for more than 45 different fish and shrimp species in more than 80 countries.

Founded in 1962 by a group of Danish fish farmers, BioMar’s heritage is a long-term commitment to developing the aquaculture industry in a responsible and sustainable way.

Our main focus is supporting our customers delivering healthy, great tasting seafood. We do this by innovating efficient, safe and nutritious feed for aquaculture with minimal environmental impact.

Our global scale, local agility and execution focus ensure that we can meet individual customer needs – always with departure in proven results and a meticulous focus on food safety.

The half year report for BioMar Group has today been released by the parent company Schouw & Co. BioMar Group has increased volumes and revenue compared to 2017. However the overall result is composed by results in the salmon markets declining slightly while other core markets and new business units have been performing according to expectations.

BioMar supports industry moves for changes in Antarctic krill harvesting suggested by Greenpeace

Representatives from the seafood industry, including BioMar, and conservation groups have agreed to support the creation of marine protected areas, including large no-fishing zones in the Antarctic. The Greenpeace led retailer roundtable event was held in conjunction with their Antarctic 360 event in Cambridge, UK, attended by scientists and Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem, who joined Greenpeace’s expedition to the Antarctic in January 2018.

BioMar expands their R&D capabilities in the Hatchery feed sector

BioMar has increased its research capabilities in hatchery with an expansion of its Aquaculture Technology Centre, ATC Hirtshals facility in Denmark. BioMar has now opened a state-of-the-art marine fish larval trial unit that not only allows for larval rearing but also the production of live feed.

Sophisticated hatchery products for demanding fish

Reflecting customers' demands, BioMar's high quality LARVIVA and INICIO Plus M products for feeding of the highly demanding fish larvae and fry now come in two recommended lines to fit the different hatcheries' goals and strategies and in new packaging. BioMar at Karmøy sets production capacity record

BioMar Group’s Karmøy production facility has officially opened Line 3, which has an annual capacity of 140,000 tonnes of fish feed, increasing the output of the Karmøy facility by around 70%. Line 3 will have one of the highest hourly output capacities of any single production line of fish feed anywhere in the world.

BioMar launches a new, highly environmentally friendly vessel

In two weeks’ time, the MS Nyksund, a new high-tech vessel for shipping fish feed will be put into service for BioMar. As part of the process of modernising BioMar’s shipments of fish feed, an agreement was signed in 2015 with NSK Shipping AS for the construction of a new feed carrier. The ship was formally handed over earlier this week at the Tersan shipyard the site responsible for construction. The ship is owned and operated by NSK Shipping.

Alimentsa and BioMar present joint team to the public

Shortly after the approval of the acquisition by the authorities, BioMar and Alimentsa presented to the public as one company for the first time at the largest shrimp event in Latin America. The acquisition of Alimentsa as announced in June is now completed. All necessary approvals have now been obtained and Alimentsa will from 13 September 2017 be a part of BioMar Group. The acquisition will position BioMar among the leading shrimp feed producers in Latin America creating synergies toward existing business.
