| THE
VALUE CHAIN
The growth of aquaculture production has
far exceeded that of conventional livestock
production in recent decades and increased
industrialisation is making farmed fish
more and more competitive with other forms
of animal protein.
Rising demand for seafood coupled with
reducing wild fish stocks is also encouraging
the growth of fish farming worldwide, -
which means that global demand for fish
feed is also growing fast.

The fish farming value chain stretches
from supply of fishmeal and other raw materials,
through feed production to farming, fish
processing, and on via the food processor
and retailer to the end-consumer. BioMar
occupies the feed production link in this
chain. There is increasing consolidation
of the value chain meaning fewer, larger
fish farms and growing integration by firms
along the chain.
BioMar has grown in step with the fish
farming industry and, as the largest dedicated
feed supplier, is well positioned to lead
the industry’s further development.
