BioMar scales up RAS and fry feed production in Denmark

BioMar announces the new production line in Brande, Denmark, is now fully operational. The line is dedicated to RAS and fry aquaculture feed production and is the result of a DKK 100 million investment that has enabled BioMar to increase the annual capacity of the Danish facility by 25%.

In China, the BioMar-Tongwei JV has now begun commercial production of aqua feeds in their new factory based in Wuxi. Solid third quarter performance improving revenue and earnings

BioMar is delivering solid results across the globe. A strong financial result in Q3 brings the group to raise the overall guidance for the year once again. BioMar reported a 3% year-on-year increase in volumes sold in the third quarter of 2019, driving the revenue up by 10% to DKK 3,404 million from DKK 3,104 million in Q3 2018. EBITDA improved by 28% when correcting for the impact of IFRS 16.

The testing platform, developed by Norway-based Orivo in collaboration with BioMar, is based on advanced DNA-technology. The test determines the species composition of marine ingredients with a high level of precision, able to detect the presence of even very small amounts of DNA. BioMar eliminates cataracts in lumpfish with a new feed diet

Cataracts are unfortunately a common eye condition in lumpfish affecting at least 60% and as much 100% of fish with the average condition being a severe cataract level of >5 according to a recent study by BioMar. It also showed that the prevalence and severity increased with fish size. BioMar has now solved the challenges associated with diet-related cataracts in lumpfish with the launch of a new Symbio recipe. These Lumpfish Grower products will make a significant contribution to improving fish welfare and their lice-grazing efficiency.
