Working together to reduce the environmental footprint in China

In BioMar Brande, Denmark, a Chinese delegation led by Yan Jinhai, the Vice Governor of The Peoples Government of Qinghai Province, gathered to witness the signing of a cooperation agreement between BioMar and Minze Long Yang Xia, the largest trout farmer in China, to supply high performance fish feed with almost half the environmental footprint compared to local Chinese feed.

BioMar completes acquisition

BioMar Group has acquired the 50% remaining shares in the Chilean factory Alitec Pargua. The transfer of shares took place this morning in Puerto Montt, leaving BioMar as the sole owner of the former joint venture.

BioMar eliminates cataracts in lumpfish with a new feed diet

Cataracts are unfortunately a common eye condition in lumpfish affecting at least 60% and as much 100% of fish with the average condition being a severe cataract level of >5 according to a recent study by BioMar. It also showed that the prevalence and severity increased with fish size. BioMar has now solved the challenges associated with diet-related cataracts in lumpfish with the launch of a new Symbio recipe. These Lumpfish Grower products will make a significant contribution to improving fish welfare and their lice-grazing efficiency.

BioMar is creating solutions targeted towards consumers

BioMar has completed the testing of insect meal in feeds for aquaculture and believe it shows promise as an alternative protein source. This is one among many other novel ingredients like algae oil or single cell proteins that BioMar has been investigating. BioMar believes these raw materials can address some of the needs of the market and are now eager to speed up their adoption through the creation of innovative feed solutions targeting the needs of seafood consumers.

BioMar appoints Managing Director in Australia

BioMar is pleased to announce the appointment of David Whyte as the Managing Director of their new fish feed manufacturing plant in Tasmania. The plant, currently in its construction phase will be ready for commissioning in early 2020.
