Creating value in aquaculture

The past Aqua 2018 conference and exhibition in Montpellier, France, was an inspiring meeting point for all that are interested in creating value through innovation and sustainable growth of aquaculture.

Through its Gold sponsorship of aquaculture events like Aqua 2018, co-organised by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) and the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), and of past and future Aquaculture Europe conferences organised by EAS, BioMar aims for encouraging researchers and especially the young people interested in developing their careers in aquaculture to have easy access to how they can serve the industry.

Under the slogan "WeR Aquaculture", Aqua 2018 gathered 3000 delegates from 107 nations. The exhibition area hosted 175 booths, whereas the four-day conference embraced a long list of presentations and scientific posters on a variety of topics, of which BioMar was the sponsor of the functional ingredients and the feed additives sessions.

BioMar's booth was a central place of meeting with people from all over the world. For instance, our hatchery feed experts were very busy giving information on our latest developments and on how to utilise our products in the best way. This year, BioMar celebrates its 15 years of excellence in hatchery feed and we continue to invest in this segment, including innovations and functional raw materials to maximise health and performance.

At Aqua 2018, the BioMar booth had a special focus on our latest developments in functional feeds for stressful periods in farming. A particular interest was shown in our very recent trial results and feeding recommendations with BioMar's Forte products that are targeted against gill parasites in sea bream.

Another BioMar focus area was to inform how we can assist aquaculture farmers and the wider aquaculture chain to get a better understanding and to assess the sustainability of every raw material found in aquaculture feed.

A festive BioMar Dinner was organised at the occasion Aqua 2018, joining BioMar collaboration partners in relaxing surroundings, at a typical French "Château". François Loubère, Managing Director of BioMar West Med, stated in his speech to the attendees: - For more than 56 years, BioMar has now been serving our customers - fish farmers and shrimp farmers - all over the world through a constant effort in research and development and innovation around nutrition, health and farming performances. We continue this path, constantly seeking to be the first to utilise innovation that advances the efficiency and sustainability of aquaculture.

Aquaculture Europe 2019 will take place 7-10 October 2019 in Berlin, Germany. BioMar will again be the Gold sponsor of this event.
