BioMar Hellenic expands its sea bream feed range with EFICO Kappa, an effective tool to restore the growth potential and protect against a vast number of pathological challenges in farming of sea bream.

Sea bream roughly represents 50 % of the total marine aquaculture production in the Mediterranean area and is considered as a key species for all marine farmers. These farmers are currently facing an extremely adverse situation as pathology-related problems are severely compromising the performance indices and negatively contribute to the economic efficiency.

Years ago bream was considered "easy-to-farm" due to the species robustness and lack of pathological problems. Not anymore. For the last decade bream confronts a large number of pathology-related issues that create major uncertainties in growth prediction models and make its farming really troublesome.

What is clearly needed it an effective tool to restore the growth potential and protect against a vast number of pathological challenges in farming of sea bream.

An effective tool
Three years ago, BioMar launched a ground-breaking new product range for sea bass: EFICO Kappa. EFICO Kappa was designed to maximize growth performance and feed conversion for sea bass by enhancing the metabolic function and ensuring maximum availability of the essential nutrients through a new concept targeted at Enhancing Nutritional Availability & Absorption (ENA2) with the well proven Performance Concept.

EFICO Kappa became a major hit, constantly gaining popularity among farmers and improving the Total Economic Performance of sea bass farms all over the East Mediterranean region. The combination of increased growth rate, improved feed utilization and decreased mortality rate creates substantial added value for the farmer and leads to considerably higher margins.

Now the EFICO Kappa products have a broader reach targeting also at the other major Mediterranean aquaculture species: sea bream.

EFICO Kappa's powerful combination of immune modulation effect and growth rate increase produces an effective tool to restore the growth potential of sea bream and to protect the fish against a vast number of pathological challenges.

These advantages are needed on the extremely competitive market. They allow for differentiation for the farmer since the use of EFICO Kappa will provide a clear benefit in achieving the absolutely best Total Economic Performance. It is definitely a win-win situation for the sea bream farming industry and will create a new collaboration relationship between BioMar and sea bream farmers all over the Mediterranean area.

EFICO Kappa for sea bream will be soon available in pellet sizes 3, 4.5 and 6 mm.
