Focus on full traceability of raw materials

In 2013, BioMar's Danish factory in Brande became the first plant in the world to comply with the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standard for trout and salmon. As feed supplier BioMar cannot be certified, but BioMar has achieved an approval that the BioMar feed is made according to the ASC-standard and therefore can be used by ASC certified fish farmers.

Via this approval, BioMar demonstrates that the intentions put in place regards to documenting responsible purchasing of for instance fish meal; fish oil and soya are working.

Some of the efforts required by BioMar are to ensure full traceability of all raw materials; that they do not contain species of conservation, or derive from illegal operations.

The ASC logo gives assurance to consumers that fish products originating from aquaculture have been produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and the ASC-standards thus reflects industry best practice.
