Climate gases

We shall reduce the emission of climate gases in production by 20% per kg of feed by 2017 and in transportation by 25% (gramme/tonne-km) before 2017.

The average temperature in the earth's atmosphere and oceans shows that global warming is a reality. Eleven of the last twelve years have been the hottest since 1850.

  • Over the last 50 years, warming has progressed twice as quickly as in the 50 years before this.
  • The average global temperature increased by 0.74°C in the course of the 20th century.

In itself, this doesn't sound like much, but it has a great impact on areas of both land and sea.

The carbon footprint represents the direct environmental effect of our actions in the form of carbon dioxide emissions. We all have a moral and social duty to reduce our own carbon emissions. A reduction of carbon emissions is one of the most important measures we can take to slow down global warming and climate change.

GOAL PARTIAL GOAL STATUS 2014 HIGH POINTS 2014

REDUCE EMISSIONS OF GREENHOUSE GASES FROM PRODUCTION

3.1 By 2017, emissions from our farms shall be reduced by 20% from the 2010 baseline

24% down. This is an addition 3.0 percentage points from.

We are exceeding our aims in terms of climate gas reduction in feed production

3.2 We shall double our use of renewable energy to 50% of our total energy needs before 2017

The proportion of renewable energy in 2014 is 43%. This is an increase of 3 percentage points from 2013.

3.3 All new capacity shall aim at achieving a 15% lower environmental impact than 2010

Same impact for new installations.

No important new installations in 2014

REDUCE EMISSIONS OF GREENHOUSE GASES FROM TRANSPORTATION

3.4 We want to reduce emission from the transportation of feed by 25% (gramme/tonne-km) by 2017

We can point to a decline of 15% from 2010. In proportion to 2013, there has been a relative increase of 12% due to a changed customer pattern

REDUCE ENERGY USE, NOISE, DUST AND ODOURS

3.5 Use of electricity and gas in 2015 shall be less than 230 and 185 kWh/tonne of goods produced at ourfactories in Karmøy and Myre respectively

New environmental goals. To be reported from 2015

3.6 Every year we aim at zero complaints concerning noise, dust and odours from the surrounding environment

3.7 Odours shall not exceed 1 odour equivalent/m3 at the factory in Karmøy1)
1) Odour units (OU)
