Quick trout
For improved growth and higher quality
Improved growth and higher quality of the end product take top priority in the production of large rainbow trout. Trials have shown that even small supplements of the yield-enhancer Quick produce improvements in growth, feed factor and quality.
The results are equally promising in large-scale contexts, which has made Quick popular among Norwegian trout farmers. Rainbow Fjord is a specially developed feed concept for rainbow trout with the emphasis on superior yield, growth, FCR and quality.
BioMar’s knowledge in the field of trout feed stretches all the way back to 1962, when the company was called Dansk Ørretfoder (Danish Trout Feed).

Excellent trial results
BioMar feed variants featuring Qrill have always achieved solid results in tests involving salmon, and the same has proved to apply in the case of trout. Trials conducted at LetSea’s Dønna and Firda aquaculture facilities in Gråvik revealed that feed including krill meal always produces a lower feed factor and greater growth.
It transpired that we could replace 20% fish meal with 2.5% Quick and 2.5% fish meal and still achieve the same growth – with a better feed factor. Increasing the Quick component to 7.5% produced significantly better growth and an added reduction in the feed factor.
Feed containing QUICK returns consistently better results than conventional types of feed as regards weight gain and FCR.

Improved fillet quality
The trials also demonstrated higher fillet quality, even in cases where Quick was not used as the final phase feed. The trend is the same as was previously identified for salmon feed featuring Quick and in Nofima’s quality tests. Fish develop less intestinal fat combined with a noticeably higher fat percentage in the fillets.
Quick contains a high level of marine phospholipids, which are efficiently assimilated into the cell membranes. Tests show that adding Quick helps prevent fillet splitting and gives the fillets a fine, firm structure.
Increased volume of omega-3
Quick is based on ‘Superba krill’, a type of krill harvested in the Antarctic by Aker BioMarine. The krill that live in the Antarctic have adapted to extremely low sea temperatures. They contain unsaturated, long-chain fatty acids that keep the fat in liquid form even at low temperatures. The omega-3 in krill is rich in phospholipids that are efficiently assimilated into cell membranes and produce a higher content of omega-3.

Rainbow Fjord for rainbow trout
Rainbow Fjord is a specially developed feed concept for rainbow trout in Norway, with the emphasis on top yield with regard to growth, feed factor and harvest quality. Rainbow Fjord is the best product we have for trout farmers: a high-quality feed based on the latest knowledge about nutrition and trout digestion.
The feed concept is consonant with trout digestion through the correct selection of ingredients, careful processing and good physical quality. Rainbow Fjord has been specially adapted to the fish’s digestion system and designed to meet the fish’s requirements, even in demanding farming locations with varying environmental conditions – in fjord areas, for example.
