Positive Performance Results from Trial on Large Rainbow Trout

BioMar has conducted a new controlled feeding trial on rainbow trout, focusing on documenting biological performance, feed efficiency, and economic return when using our EFICO Enviro 923 Advance feed. The results confirm strong performance under controlled conditions.

The trial was carried out at the ATC facility in Hirtshals over a nine-week period from January to March 2026. The fish had an initial weight of approximately 850 g and were grown to around 2 kg.

Three diets were tested under identical conditions with ad libitum feeding:

·         BioMar: EFICO Enviro 923 Advance 6mm pellets

·         Competitor A

·         Competitor B

Environmental conditions remained stable throughout the trial, with an average temperature of approximately 15 °C and moderate salinity, providing a robust basis for comparison.

EFICO Enviro 923 Advance achieved the best FCR and the numerically highest growth performance, indicating efficient growth combined with strong feed utilization.

When translating biological performance into economics, EFICO Enviro 923 Advance shows advantages:

• Lowest feed cost per kg of growth

• Measurable savings compared to both competitor diets

• Overall improved production efficiency

Specifically, feed cost per kg growth was reduced compared to both competing feeds, reinforcing the value of improved feed efficiency.

The Total Economic Performance (TEP) results confirm that EFICO Enviro 923 Advance delivers the highest overall value in the trial.

Compared to both competitor diets, EFICO Enviro 923 Advance demonstrates an advantage in economic return per kg of feed, supporting higher profitability for producers.

The trial was conducted using an ad libitum feeding strategy with feed waste observed, representing an intensive feeding regime.

This approach reflects real-world farming conditions, making the results highly relevant for commercial production. The data therefore demonstrate that EFICO Enviro 923 Advance performs not only under controlled experimental setups, but also in practical farming situations.

This trial builds on previous documentation and further confirms that EFICO Enviro 923 Advance is a strong choice for the production of rainbow trout. The combination of solid biological performance and improved economic outcomes provides producers with a reliable tool for optimizing production efficiency and profitability.
