Meet a coworker: Adela Arajo
From academia to industry research
Adela Araujo is a PhD candidate in R&D at BioMar, where she combines industry research with academic studies. Originally from Honduras and now based in Trondheim, she works on planning and managing research projects, analyzing data, and communicating results
Turning research into real-world solutions
With a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business and Management and a master's degree in Aquaculture with a focus on nutrition, Adela brings both scientific knowledge and practical insight to her role. Her work involves planning and managing research projects, analyzing data, and reporting results. Depending on the day, she may be working from the office or attending courses and research activities at the university.
Growing through collaboration
For Adela, one of the best things about BioMar is the combination of support, collaboration, and opportunities for growth. Being able to work on real industry challenges while pursuing her PhD motivates her every day.
"I feel very fortunate to be able to work on real problems the industry faces while also earning my degree. It's a great opportunity for both professional and personal development."
Looking ahead
After completing her PhD, Adela hopes to continue working in research, particularly within the shrimp industry, an area she feels strongly connected to. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active through running and strength training.
