BioMar becomes France's first ASC-certified aquaculture feed production facility.

BioMar has obtained ASC Feed Certification for its production facility in Nersac, France. As a key site producing feed for all life stages, including hatchery diets, this certification marks a significant milestone in France as the first ASC Certified aquaculture feed production facility in France and expands BioMar’ s ability to supply ASC-conforming feed across species and regions in the West Mediterranean and Africa Region and sets.

The Nersac factory plays a central role in BioMar’ s feed production network, supplying a wide range of aquaculture feeds. With this certification, BioMar can now provide ASC-conforming feeds to customers across West Mediterranean and Africa regions, supporting ASC-certified producers from the very beginning of the farming cycle.

"We are delighted to celebrate Biomar France's ASC Feed certification. As the first ASC certified feed production facility in France, Biomar demonstrates its strong commitments to sustainability and innovation, and sets a powerful example for others in the region to follow. This milestone marks a major step forward for responsible aquaculture in France” says Camille Civel, ASC Regional Manager Southern Europe, France & Italy.

The ASC Feed Standard sets out rigorous requirements covering environmental responsibility, social and labour rights, health and safety, and the sustainable sourcing of raw materials. Certification of the Nersac facility demonstrates BioMar’ s ongoing dedication to delivering feed solutions that support both performance and responsible production.

This certification strengthens our ability to support ASC-certified farmers at every production stage,” says Luis Garcia Romero, Managing Director at BioMar. “By offering ASC-conforming feed, we help our customers meet evolving market expectations and build value across the full value chain in the western mediterranean region as Nersac factory in France together with Dueñas factory in Spain are the responsible sites for supplying feed to the whole Western Mediterranean Europe and Africa” highlighted Luis.

BioMar’s ASC Feed Certification Expands

The achievement follows a string of ASC Feed certifications across BioMar’ s global network, including facilities in Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Costa Rica, Norway, Denmark and the UK. Together, these certifications form a strong foundation that allows BioMar to supply ASC-conforming feeds for a growing number of species and farming systems worldwide.

At DNV, we celebrate the continued progress of BIOMAR Group’s sustainability strategy, with the recent integration of its French factory into this initiative. This site joins the other group facilities in the challenge of ASC certification, a key tool to ensure responsible and sustainable sourcing of animal feed, contributing to the overall sustainability of the entire food supply chain,” says Javier Soria, Food Manager at DNV in Iberia.

This latest certification demonstrates BioMar’ s commitment to innovation, responsibility, and collaboration, helping aquaculture producers navigate a fast-changing industry while advancing the global transition to more responsible seafood production.
